Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya recalls childhood cycling on World Bicycle Day

World Bicycle Day: Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya shares childhood cycling memories

On World Bicycle Day, actor Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya reminisced about her childhood memories of cycling, which sparked her passion for motorbikes. Divyanka recalls learning to ride a bicycle in the 3rd grade on the hilly slopes of Bhopal. She and her cousin learned through trial and error. She vividly remembers the first time she achieved balance, only to fall in her excitement and get hurt. Her parents taught her a valuable life lesson then: “Girte hain sher sawar hi maidan-e-jung mein” (Only riders in the battlefield fall).

Some of Divyanka’s sweetest childhood memories are tied to her bicycle adventures. During school summer holidays, she would cycle to her father’s medical store to help out. She enjoyed receiving praise from his friends for her assistance and would secretly take her favorite chocolates from the shelf. However, she was caught before she could perfect her sneaky habit. To avoid being banned from the store and to continue her cycling adventures, she mended her ways and became an honest assistant to her father.

Cycling adventures in adulthood

Divyanka’s cycling adventures didn’t stop in childhood. She shares a memorable incident from adulthood when she was cycling home from a shoot location. A steep ascending road became too challenging, but admirers on scooters and cars spotted her. To avoid causing a traffic jam, she kept pedaling with a polite smile, even though her legs were screaming for a break. When she finally got home, her thighs were so sore she could barely walk, but she felt a strange sense of accomplishment.

Cycling also introduced Divyanka to another love—motorcycles. Her teenage cycling adventures gave her the confidence to switch to a gearless bike during college, and last year, she learned to ride a motorcycle. Divyanka credits her cycling experiences for helping her develop a passion for motorbikes.
